What exactly is Fortnite?
Fortnite is a video game developed by Epic Games and is the most popular game in the video game market. Back in 2018, the game had more than 100 million players worldwide.
When players talk about Fortnite, they usually think of the online multiplayer battle royale. In this mode, up to 100 players compete on a large map until only one remains - the round's winner.
Fortnite multiplayer is completely free to play on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Fortnite's single-player mode is called "Save the World," but it's rarely played.
What is Fortnite's battle royale mode?
Once players start a round, they'll join 99 other players aboard a so-called Battle Bus and fly across a fictional Fortnite map. Each player can decide for themselves when to jump out of the bus and where on the map they want to land the glider. Immediately after landing, start hunting for equipment, weapons, and other useful items.
In addition to the pickaxe each player starts their turn with, Fortnite also offers what's called a loot system. This contains the weapons and ammo you need to win a round anywhere on the game map. This should make every round different and most importantly, the so-called Pay2Win should not happen.
In some games, players talk about Pay2Win when the makers only allow real money to buy the most powerful and best items and weapons - as mentioned earlier, this is not the case with Fortnite.
Players eliminated from a round do not return to the same round and must find a new round or watch the remaining players. Since the Fortnite game map is very large, as the number of players dwindles, it becomes increasingly difficult to find the remaining players.
Because of this, a big storm brings the players together until in the end only a few square meters of play space remain, and the players can definitely find each other. After 20 minutes at the latest, according to the rules of the game, the round ends.
Is Fortnite suitable for kids?
Fortnite quickly became popular, especially among younger players. There are various reasons for this. One of the main reasons is that the game is completely free, you don't need to subscribe or spend real money.
Another reason is the comical imagery, which lacks realism and lacks blood, gunshot wounds or dead bodies. Affected players disappear and are no longer visible.
At the same time, Fortnite's highly fictional environment is not based on horror scenarios like other shooters. That's why the game already has a 12-year-old age rating in most countries, and most parents consider it fairly harmless.
